“The Weight” - Written & Performed by men from Calif state prison - LAC

On July 23, 2025, TWP’s Theatre Inside program presented “The Weight”, an original theatre piece written and performed by 20 men from California State Prison-Lancaster’s A Yard. This unique intergenerational ensemble of artists was made up of recently incarcerated Youthful Offenders (YOP), long-serving Lifers, and mid-sentence incarcerated men. “The Weight” was performed for an audience that included invited family members, guests from the public, and the performers’ peers. The event included an audience-participation mini-workshop, a Second Act discussion, awarding of Certificates of Completion, and time to socialize and enjoy snacks.
