The community-rooted program championing the academic and personal growth of formerly incarcerated students was founded in 1967 by Professor John Irwin at San Francisco State University.
With the unwavering belief that education transforms lives, the program is staffed by individuals with firsthand experiences navigating the justice system.

A Noise Within
A Noise Within (ANW) produces classic theatre as an essential means to enrich the community by embracing universal human experiences, expanding personal awareness, and challenging individual perspectives.
A leading regional producer based in Pasadena, CA, ANW’s award-winning resident company presents world-class theatre at their state-of-the-art, 324-seat performing space. The venue, established in 2011, has allowed ANW to expand its audience, surpassing its previous box office and attendance records each year.
In addition to producing world-class performances of classic theatre, the organization runs robust education programs committed to inspiring diverse audiences of all ages.
